Claudette Colbert was an actress born in Saint-Mande, Val-de-Marne, France in 1903. Her family moved to America when she was seven, on account of her fathers banking job. She started in the Theater then movied up into the film industry during "The Great Depression" when the first movies with talking hit the scene.

If you look at this link you will find sixty-three photos of Claudettes movie career. I suggest looking at all of them. They show the fabulous look of the 1920s and how beautiful she was. If you look at the second photo you see she was also very modest and ladylike, which is shocking compared to some of our more modern actresses.
