In history class, I’ve always liked learned about the Enlightenment. I think it’s really interesting to hear other people’s opinions about life. One of the greatest philosophers was Francois-Marie Arouet, or better known as Voltaire. He stood for freedom of religion and expression, something that I stand for as well, so I thought he’d be an interesting person to do a project on.

On this website, it will give you a brief biography about Voltaire’s life. It provides a bit of background information and some of his accomplishments as well. It also talks about some of the books he has written. One of his most famous books was Candide. This website is good if you want a brief description of his life and accomplishments.

Next, is a website that has Voltaire’s famous quotes. Personally, I love to look at quotes that people who inspire me say. It really helps me to know what they stood for as a person, or in this case, a philosopher. I also love them, because quotes make you think about what kind of person you want to be. They make you decide whether you believe in what they say or if you have a completely different opinion than what they did. This website has over 7 pages of quotes Voltaire said. I’ll be glad to know your thoughts about his quotes!

This is a good website if you want to know what some of his philosophies were. They list a couple of them and explain them as well. It states that most of his philosophies were based on skepticism and rationalism, which I find to be very interesting, because I’m usually not that rational l or skeptical! I find that his philosophies are really interesting to read about, though, so if you’re interested to learn more about him and his philosophies, this is a good website to look at.

Lastly, this website gives more information about his life. It includes quotes and facts about his life. It also states what his major works were and how he influenced the Enlightenment. This website had a lot of information that I hadn’t seen before, so it’s really good if you want a more detailed biography of his life. Enjoy!
