Henri Oreiller was a French alpine ski racer from Paris. He was born December 5th, 1925 and died on October 7th, 1962. Oreiller was raised in Paris and frequently visited Val d'Isère during the holidays. Oreiller won 2 gold medals and 1 bronze medal in skiing at the 1948 winter Olympic Games. This made him the most successful athlete there. Oreiller got the nickname "Parisian of Val d'Isère" or "Madman of Downhill". In 1952 he retired from skiing to try motor racing. On October 7th, 1962 Henri Oreiller was killed while racing a Ferrari. His shrine is in Val d'Isère with his wife.
