I choose Vanessa James to write about for my February French project. She is one of the athletes that are in the 2014 Winter Olympics on Sotchi, Russia. She participates in the sport of figure skating and she began in 1998. With earlier partner Yannick Bonheur, Vanessa James represented France in the 2010 Winter Olympics placing 14th. She is also the 2006 British Champion in single skating. She was born in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada on September 27, 1987(26 years old). She lived in Bermuda until the age of 10 then she moved to the state of Virginia in the United States. She lived in the United States through 2007 and got her permanent American residence card, and then moved to Paris, France. She also has a twin sister, Melyssa James, has also competed in figure skating.

In this clip it shows Vanessa James and her partner Morgan Cipres figure skating. I really like this clip because it shows how good they are and it’s very entertaining to watch. The part I like is at 2 minutes and 15 seconds, that move is really cool and it looked fun to do. At 1mintue and 19 seconds the move they did was really eye opening because it almost looked like she was about to slide out of his hands any second.

On Wikipedia you can find out more information on her like her personal life, figure skating partners, single skating and more. She had a single skating career for Great Britain and the United States. It also tells you about her partners Morgan Cipres and Yannick Bonheur for figure skating. Her figure skating partner presently is Morgan Cipres; she has won four international medals and is a two-time French national champion.

This website keeps you updated on her performance in the 2014 Winter Olympics. It has information on her hobbies, choreographer, her training and much more. Her last Winter Olympics was in Vancouver 2010. What caught my eye on this site is how long she trains a week! In one week when it’s the off season she trains 31 hours a week in Vaujany, France. When it’s the season like now she trains for 25 hours a week in Paris-Bercy, France.
I hope you enjoyed my project on Vanessa James and you learned a lot of things about her you didn't know before.
