I’ve always loved music, and now that I’ve studied French, I’ve found that I love French music. I’ve chosen to do my culture project on a French singer, Edith Piaf, who was an international star in France during World War II.
Edith Piaf's Biography
This website is a biography of Edith’s life. It has information about her early life, rise to fame, personal life and lastly, later life. I personally love to look up this information about people who inspire and interest me. The website also includes some of her most famous quotes and pictures. If you enjoy learning about people who inspire you and people you like to listen to, this website is really good and I recommend it.
Edith Piaf's Website
This website is a tribute to Edith Piaf. Again, it gives you a bit about her life and career. You can also purchase posters and pictures, her music, a book about her life, and it provides information about the movies she was in because she was also an actress. Even if you don’t want to purchase something, it’s a great website to look at and explore.
Edith's song La vie en rose
Truthfully, I had never even heard of Edith Piaf until my Dad recommended that I might listen to her music and do this project on her. As soon as I listened to her song, La vie en rose, I fell in love with it. I enjoy music in different languages, especially French music. When she sings, you can hear emotion in every word, even if you can’t understand everything she’s singing. I’ve always loved music that had a jazz feel to it and so this song is my favorite out of all the songs she has sang.
Pictures of Edith Piaf's Paris
Lastly, this is a photo album called Edith Piaf’s Paris. It has pictures of Edith herself, her museum, places where she has sang, and even Edith Piaf’s statue. I’ve always wanted to go to Paris and look at museums and this is a perfect solution. Once you get to the website, in the upper right hand corner there’s a left arrow and a right arrow. In the middle there’s a button you can click to preview all the pictures they have on the website. There are 12 pictures, but if you want to see them all, you have to make sure that you start on picture one. It’ll tell you in the upper right hand corner what picture out of 12 you are on. Enjoy!
