I love movies; acting and directing have always interested me greatly. Since France is the birthplace of cinema, I thought I would do some more research on it. France, the Birthplace of Movies On December 28th, 1895, the Lumiere Brothers shared their short films with the world in Paris. There is speculation as to if the Lumiere Brothers were actually the first to invent moving pictures as there are arguments granting Thomas Edison with that title. France is desperately trying to fully earn this title by issuing a 200-franc note carrying a picture of the Lumiere Brothers and showing an early Lumiere Brothers film on television. A Short History of French Cinema This Article has many short films that stand out in the early French movie world. It includes the first science-fiction film and various famous French films throughout the twentieth century. It's very interesting to watch these and see how the films evolved throughout time. Also, the direction, dialogue, and acting is very different from modern-American films. The Future of French Cinema In France, the government is involved with the productions of movies. This makes movies an act of politics, also. This article argues that films are too expensive. Reading this article really opened my mind up to how different France is from America and the arguments are very well put together; it seems like quite the serious issue.

Sarah, please remember that I said that any borderline subject matter earns a zero on the project. The film is an example of this because of its use of inappropriate language and prevalence of sexuality. I watched about 9 minutes in. I'm sorry, but at least you can use your extra credit to make up for it.
