He created the pendulum in 1851. the original was made of a 28 kg brass coated lead bob hanging from 67 meters of wire. the pendulum rotated 11 degrees every hour. Leon Foucault was born on September 18,1819. His Father Jean Leon Foucault was a famous writer and bookseller. At an early age Leon was shy and lacked self-confidence. When he became a teenager his high school teachers thought he was lazy. However Leon had a talent for building machines at an early age. Leon discovered the means of taking photos through the lens of a microscope. In the process he invented a strong source of light for illuminating his microscopic subjects
