I chose to do my November culture project on a French chemist and microbiologist because science is easily my favorite subject in school, especially chemistry. Louis Pasteur developed the first vaccine for rabies in the mid 1800's. He was born December 27th, 1822 in Dole, France. His body is buried beneath the Pasteur Institute, which he established in 1887. Pasteur died on September 28th, 1895.
Louis Pasteur Mini Biography

I chose this video because it shows his life in a short video, documents some of the most important things he did, and explains that it was him who studied germ theory end in the end, saved and is still saving millions of lives.
Louis Pasteur Timeline

This link shows a timeline of his entire life, marking his birth, when he was baptized, major experiments, jobs, schooling, and his death, along with many other important events throughout his life.
Pasteur's Experiment

I chose this because it shows how he performed his experiment. He created vaccines and the process known as "pasteurization" to keep milk fresh.

His contribution to the science field must have saved thousands of people. I thought it was interesting how he, at first, failed the examination for the bachelor of science degree yet became the first person to artificially weaken viruses through vaccines. Although he was weak at chemistry, he invented the rabies vaccination and pasteurization along with the germ theory of disease.

Great work Katy! I loved watching the video of the mini biography. It's crazy that before Louis's germ theory, surgeons didn't understand the need to wash their hands, leading to infection and death after surgeries!

You have a well informative video. Your project has informed me a some things that I didn't know about Louis Pasteur such as how he wrote a 43 page paper just on alcoholic fermentation and set up a laboratory for wine.

Great job! Your video was extremely informative about Louis Pasteur. I never new he was the person who invented the method for milk to not go spoiled.
