After a little research on French cellists, I decided on Augustin Maurs, a French cellist and composer. I decided to pick a cellist because I play the cello and I love learning about other people who play the same instrument. Augustin Maurs Playing Bach 1st Suite for Cello
This video is a live recording of Augustin playing the cello in France back in 2007. As there isn't much more I can say about where this link takes you, I find Augustin's version of this piece to be one of the best I have heard thus far. Augustin Maurs SOLO ProjectThis link will take you to a PDF about Augustin's project called SOLO. During this project, over a course of two weeks, every night Augustin would play one of Bach's Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello, but with a twist. The entire room was dark. In this PDF file, you can see how the stage was set up, what the whole project was about, and reviews from a couple of people who attended. The admission for these concerts was completely free, which made for a high number of people who had attended. Short Biography of Augustin MaursSince Augustin is not a very well known cellist, I couldn't find any other biographies on him, aside from this one. This link will take you to the wikipedia page for Augustin, and will tell you where he studied, and a small bit about his career.

The cello is my favorite instrument of all string instruments, so I had taken quite an interest in your project. I really like the strong, mellow sound that Augustin Maurs produces. I thought that he was very expressive in the way that he moves when he plays his cello, but at the same time, I thought it was a little funny. I think that it would be cool if I watched a concert in total darkness, but what amazes me is the fact that he memorized the gazillion pages of the Six Suites for Unaccompanied Cello by Bach. I think that it's cool that he had performed for "Kieu" because I am part French and part Vietnamese and it links both to my background.

I enjoyed the video of Augustin Maurs playing Bach 1st Suite for cello. The piece was majestic and fun to listen to and I am stunned that he could remember it all and play it for memory. I was interested to hear the music in the dark so I closed my eyes as the video played and found the music to be very immersive and it was able to pull me away from the world around us. It is a great piece of music and i like it a lot.

Cool! That was a beautiful solo. I tend to gravitate toward anything music related, so this was very interesting for me!

I'm really glad you chose to do Augustin Maurs. He's one of my favorite talented composers that I've heard of, and his Bach 1st Suite for Cello was one of my (maybe our) favorite pieces to hear. It's sad to hear that he's not a very well known cellist, but he makes great music. I learned a lot of him by looking at his SOLO project and his biography.

What a great project! I loved the solo. It's such a beautiful piece. I also love the idea of a free concert at night in the dark for people to immerse themselves in the music. I would love to be able to attend one of his concerts.

The solo was absolutely fabulous and beautiful. The little there is about him seems interesting. The Bach piece is also very amazing. He seems very talented
