I’m really interested in art. I love Vincent Van Gogh painting because I love to paint. He is one of my favorite artist. Vincent Van Gogh was born in Groot-Zundert, a small town in Holland in March 1853 but he lived many years in France. He did many different things when he was young. He worked as an art dealer for his brother but he really wanted to become an evangelist. He tried being a teacher, artiest, and many other things. He was not easy to get along with and he had mental problems. He got in to arguments with people he lived with; he even fought with his brother. Some of the fights were about his involvement with prostitutes. He frequently moved to other cities all over in Europe. The year before he died, he put himself in the mental hospital because he needed help. He was very troubled person. Most people think that he committed suicide but he died at age of 37 from the infection of a gunshot wound that was accidentally shot by two boys. He was able to sell only one of his paintings when he was alive because people didn’t like his painting. His works were not very popular until after he died. One of my favorit painting is “The Starry Night”. It is the most famous of van Gogh’s painting. He painted the masterpiece during the day only from memories because it was dark at night and he couldn’t see what he was doing. The movement of his work is that he learned from other impressionist artist to create his own style. His works are called post-impressionism. The processes of Van Gogh’s works are focused on bright colors, patterns, forms, and lines. Van Gogh used oil paint to create this picture. He exaggerated many things in the painting, for example, the moon and the stars were surrounded with swirly lines to make it look very bright. He used small lines and brushstrokes to express his emotional reactions and to lead the viewer’s eyes around the painting. There was no purpose in his work, he just wanted to express his emotions through the painting and to please the viewer’s eyes.
