I have fallen in love with Korean-pop music and have become interested in a Korean rap artist named Kwon Ji Yong, otherwise known as G-Dragon. I have watched many of his music videos and have seen or heard a couple references to the French language.
Baby Goodnight-GD & TOP This video is of G-Dragon’s collaboration with his Big Bang band member, T.O.P. If you watch this, you will hear that there is French at the beginning and end of the song. Neither G-Dragon nor T.O.P. were the ones singing in French, but a female sang the French.
Kwon Ji Yong's Bio This is Kwon Ji Yong’s biography. He started at the young age of five. When he was eight, he was under a contract with SM Entertainment, but decided to change labels. He changed labels to YG Entertainment. He became the youngest Korean rapper at thirteen. He is still working for YG Entertainment and he has been active since 2001. He became the leader of the Korean group Big Bang in 2006. This site shows interesting facts about him, some collaborations, and his profile.
G-Dragon "Coup D’état"" This is G-Dragon’s “Coup D’état” music video. Coup d’état is French for revolution or overturn. Coup D’état is G-Dragon’s second solo album and shows there is some connections between Korean and French culture. In the music video, G-Dragon is saying “This is my Coup d’état,” so he’s saying that it is his revolution.

Wow, that last video is not like any other music video I've ever seen. Really. So interesting, though. I find it interesting that even in the biography, there's no mention of a French connection. Clearly, there is one. Maybe it begs more research...

I found it very surprising to find another student to be interested in K-Pop here. Although Jiyong doesn't have much of French connection besides his song, I really liked knowing more about him.
