I have been very interested in orchestra ever since I was young, and now, I play the viola. I took the French Culture Project as an incentive to search up the different orchestras in France. It was with this project that I had found Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg (Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra/OPS).
EVERYTHING ORCHESTRA
This website has almost everything you need to know about the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra. As soon as you get on the site, there is a little bit of repeating background music. This site has no English translations, but you can go through the site pretty easily with basic knowledge of cognates. If you do not know half of the French language, the main parts you should be able to go through are the video, audio, and photo galleries. If you hover over where it says medias, you should see the categories: vidéos and photos (which has several different subcategories to that). You can view their videos and photos of their performances. If you hover of where it says boutique, you can get to their audio section. The audio section contain documents describing their CD's when you click on the links next to the red squares and also midi files of their music which you can play by pressing the play button which is a green rectangle with a white triangle pointing to the right. Unfortunately while listening to the midi files or videos, I don't know how to silence the obnoxious background music.
IN BRIEF WORDS
This is an article about the Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, a cultural attraction for tourists that may come to Strasbourg. It lists off the orchestra's different conductors (including a few big names for guest conductors), describes the success of the orchestra, and summarizes their routines for concerts.
RECORDINGS
If you go through the link, you can view 58 of OPS' recordings which include a few sound samples depending on which recording you click. You can find a lot of their music through here, but you won't be able to listen to most of their music unless you buy it. You can also search up the ensemble in YouTube's search engine and find some of their performances through there. You can find that they play some familiar tracks like from the movies, Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars, but many classical songs as well.
